Day 1

Welcome to Vietnam

Xin chào, and welcome to Hanoi — where ancient traditions meet modern charm!

Upon arrival at Hanoi Airport, your private English-speaking driver will be waiting in the arrivals hall holding a sign with your name. You’ll be escorted to your handpicked boutique hotel for a restful start to your journey.

This evening is yours to ease into the atmosphere — perhaps take a gentle walk, enjoy your first steaming bowl of phở, or simply rest after your journey.

Day 2

Hanoi Through Local Eyes

Today, your private guide brings Hanoi’s history to life. Begin with a visit to the marble-and-granite Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, followed by the lotus-inspired One Pillar Pagoda — a national symbol of serenity. Stroll through the shaded courtyards of the Temple of Literature, Vietnam’s first university.

After lunch, explore the Museum of Ethnology and gain insight into Vietnam’s rich ethnic diversity. End the day with a guided walk through the Old Quarter’s 36 guild streets — buzzing with scooters, steaming food stalls and hidden heritage. Wrap up with a charming water puppet show — a uniquely northern art form that delights both locals and visitors alike.

Breakfast and lunch are included.

Hoa Lu

Day 3

The Hidden Beauty of Ninh Binh

Leave the city behind as you journey through the peaceful countryside to Ninh Binh — often called Halong Bay on land. Your guide will lead you through Hoa Lu, Vietnam’s former royal capital, framed by soaring limestone cliffs.

Next, board a traditional sampan rowboat through the magical waterways of Tam Coc. Glide gently past rice fields and duck beneath cool cave ceilings — a meditative, camera-ready experience. Pause for a fresh local lunch before returning to Hanoi by late afternoon.

Breakfast and lunch are included.

Halong Bay

Day 4

Into the Heart of Halong Bay

This morning, set off to Halong Bay — a UNESCO World Heritage Site that looks like a painting brought to life. Board your elegant overnight cruise and begin your journey through jade waters dotted with over 1,500 islands.

Depending on the boat, you may enjoy kayaking, cave exploring or a Vietnamese cooking demonstration. Sunset from the deck is simply unforgettable. As the stars appear, dine onboard and settle into your cosy cabin to the gentle sounds of lapping waves.

What Our Travellers Say

Your Questions Answered

Vietnam stretches across multiple climates, but for this North-to-South itinerary, March to May and September to November offer the perfect balance, with warm weather, clear skies and fewer crowds. Halong Bay is stunning year-round, but spring and autumn often mean better cruising conditions and golden sunsets worth writing home about.

This journey starts in Hanoi (Noi Bai International Airport) and ends in Ho Chi Minh City. From Australia, Vietnam Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Thai Airways, Malaysia Airlines and Qantas all offer one-stop options into Hanoi. If you’re unsure which route fits best, just let us know — we’ll help map it out with you.

Every step of this journey is curated just for you and your travel companions. That means no tour buses, no group schedules, and no strangers joining your days. You’ll have handpicked local guides and a private driver in each region, offering insider access, authentic stories, and total flexibility to go at your own pace.

Absolutely — and we’ve designed it with that in mind. From the comfort of a private cruise on Halong Bay to easy internal flights and expert guides in every city, you’ll be gently introduced to Vietnam’s incredible culture, food and history, with full support the whole way through.

All internal flights (Hanoi to Danang and Danang to Ho Chi Minh City) are included and booked by us. You don’t need to lift a finger. We also arrange private airport transfers at every stop, so it’s seamless from sky to street.

You’ll sail past limestone islands in Halong Bay, drift through riverside caves in Ninh Binh, walk across the Golden Bridge in the clouds, and ride Vespas through Saigon by night. It’s a rich blend of iconic highlights and local gems, with plenty of time to pause, reflect, and soak it all in.

You can absolutely travel solo, and many of our travellers do. This journey is also ideal for couples and families, thanks to its flexibility. Whether you want downtime by the beach, child-friendly activities, or extra space for your honeymoon champagne, we’ll shape the trip around you.

We offer three handpicked levels: Comfort, Deluxe and Indulgence — all boutique, character-filled and personally vetted. Think leafy courtyards in Hanoi, beachfront hideaways in Danang, and chic city stays in Saigon. You choose your preferred level, and we’ll take care of the rest.

Most Australian passport holders require an e-visa for Vietnam, which is simple to apply for online and typically processed within a few days. We’ll provide guidance on how to do this once your booking is confirmed, and keep you updated with the latest entry info.
