A vibrant world-class destination not to be missed

It’s a place where you can find yourself in the middle of nowhere and an urban metropolis. Brazilians are known for their passion, creativity, and love of life—and they’re also known for their friendly nature and willingness to help you out when you need it.

No matter where you visit South America, your adventure begins in Santiago, Chile’s capital, due to direct flights from Sydney to Santiago. Our Essentials itinerary covers Argentina’s bustling capital city, Iguassu Falls, one of the world’s seven wonders ending in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, home to Christ the Redeemer—a giant monument overlooking the city—and Sugarloaf Mountain, one of its most famous attractions: a majestic rock peak overlooking a beachside district called Copacabana. If you want to visit Rio Carnival, make sure you plan to be there the final week of February.

If you want to extend your trip, consider visiting Lima, Peru’s capital city—a UNESCO World Heritage Site with a wealth of colonial architecture and gorgeous buildings. Visit the Sacred Valley of the Incas, where its magnificent Incan structures will wow you. Discover the mysteries of Machu Picchu, Peru’s most renowned ruin, all this and more in our Explorer itinerary.

Choose our Adventurer itinerary if you wish to add a visit to the world’s largest rainforest, the Amazon Jungle, for unspoiled nature in an exotic landscape rich with wildlife.

When to visit Brazil?

Brazil is big with a diverse climate dominated by the Amazon Rainforest. This lovely country can be visited all year round. However, the best time to visit Brazil is between November and March. These are the warmest months in the region, ideal for enjoying the Carnival festivities.

June through December is the perfect time to explore the Amazon rainforest. Similarly, from June through September will be your best bet for the driest weather. If you’re planning a trip to Rio, rates are often high in July owing to the large number of locals heading off to Rio for domestic holidays. During the rainy season, you will discover great bargains in Brazil from May through September.
