Day 3

Ayutthaya

After an early breakfast, meet your private English-speaking guide for a drive to The Summer Palace at Bang Pa-In, located 60 kilometres from Bangkok on the Chao Phraya River. Built by King Mongkut in 1859 and known as a royal resort during the reign of King Rama V, it later served as a summer residence for royals, ministers, and courtiers.

Next, travel by long-tail boat to Ayuthaya for a visit to Wat Phanacheong, founded by King Rama I and the oldest temple in the district. Built to be a place where monks could practice meditation, the temple has since been restored and transformed into a beautiful 19th-century architectural masterpiece that draws tourists from around the world.

Enjoy some authentic Thai food at a local restaurant before visiting the temples of Ayutthaya by Tuk Tuk. In its golden days, Ayutthaya was a prosperous international trading port. The ruins of the old city now form the Ayutthaya Historical Park, an archaeological site that contains palaces, Buddhist temples, monasteries, and statues. The park is on an island between 3 rivers.

Return to Bangkok and your hotel where the remainder of the day is at your leisure.

Day 5

Chiang Mai like a local

Start your day with a longtail boat ride to the “Thai Farmer’s House”. Agriculture remains Thailand’s largest source of income, and here you can discover the basic elements–rice, herbs, fruits–all thriving in a chemical-free environment. Stroll around the alleyways of Wat Gatekaram’s old trader community before continuing to Warorot Market.

Enjoy a bowl of Khao Soy, a delectable Northern Thai dish made with coconut cream, crispy noodles, and plenty of spice.

Next, visit Wat Phra That Doi Suthep (also known as the most sacred temple on the hill). It contains an intriguing copper-placed chedi topped by a five-tier gold parasol that contains relics of Lord Buddha. Give an offering dedicated to the monks and receive a blessing from them before returning to the hotel where the evening is at your leisure.

Breakfast and lunch included

*Note: One of the highlights of the trip is travelling around using various modes of local transport, including a songthaew and long tail boat. This combination allows you to get off the beaten path and explore areas that most tourists never see.

When you arrive, an English-speaking guide will walk you through the adjacent Karen village and teach you about elephants, as well as local life in Thailand. After changing into traditional Karen clothing, grab some bananas and sugar cane for feeding, then head out to meet, play and bathe with these friendly creatures!

After lunch, indulge in the ultimate Thai experience with a two-hour spa treatment. This stress-buster treatment combines Thai massage techniques with Aromatherapy massage, beginning with a hot herbal compress placed along the strong muscle lines. Then hot oil massages stretch the muscles to reopen the body’s energy pathways, enhance circulation and increase energy levels.
