The meaning of Wanderlust

Canada is the world’s second-largest country with no shortage of beautiful places. The western part of Canada includes the provinces of Alberta and British Columbia, renowned for their jaw-dropping natural scenery.

Self-drive or travel by Canadian coaches for a spectacular road trip through the Rocky Mountains, across British Columbia, to Vancouver. Start your journey from the cosmopolitan city of Calgary before leaving the city behind, heading towards Banff National Park, and catching the first glimpse of the famous Canadian Rocky Mountains. Travel between Banff and Jasper, stopping by the mesmerising Lake Louise. Admire the stunning scenery as you go on one of the world’s most scenic highways, the Icefields Parkway to Kamloops. Head off to the world-famous ski resort of Whistler to witness even more beautiful mountain scenery before heading off to the Sea to Sky route into the city of Vancouver. All this and more are in our Essentials itinerary.

Choose our Explorer itinerary for a change, as you travel by train through gorgeous valleys on the Famous Rocky Mountaineer to see the remarkable Fraser River, Hell’s Gate and the spectacular Pyramid Falls. (The rocky mountaineer only operates from mid-April to mid-October)

Venture into the North of Vancouver Island to stay in the Great Bear Lodge, a one-of-a-kind and exquisite self-contained floating getaway nestled in secluded and beautiful surroundings, to observe the Grizzly bears and other wildlife on the doorstep in our Adventurer itinerary. But remember that the Bear Season is at its best before and after their hibernation, so plan your trip accordingly.

When to visit West Coast Canada?

The best time to visit West Coast Canada is in summer, from June to September. This time frame offers the best chance for sightseeing, in good and dry weather. However, this season also sees the largest crowds and highest rates.

The best time to spot Grizzly bears is again in the summer season, from June to September, when they are out of hibernation. September is the autumn season which gives you a chance to watch the lovely orange leaves and fantastic views and when the Salmon runs and the peak time to see the bears filling up. Enjoy snowcapped mountains and semi-frozen lakes in May as it is the end of winter. Most of the attractions are closed in the remaining winter months unless for the skiing season.
