When’s the best time to visit the Far East?

China is a vast country, so the climate changes from place to place. One of the most popular destinations is the capital, Bejing, which has four distinct seasons. Head there in autumn, which takes place during September and October, for cool temperatures and lots of sunshine.
4. Hong Kong
This ‘special administrative region’ of China is a unique place to visit in many ways, not least thanks to its cuisine, nightlife and incredible mix of city and wild landscapes. Visit from November to February for pleasant temperatures and lower humidity.
5. Indonesia
With over 17,000 islands to choose from, you’ll have your pick of beautiful destinations in this archipelago. It’s best to plan your trip for the dry season from May to September and avoid the monsoon season between October and April.
6. Japan
The climate in Japan varies around the country. If you’re visiting one of the most popular and vibrant destinations, the capital, Tokyo, avoid the hot and humid summer from late June to the end of August. You’re good to go in autumn, late September to November, or spring, from March to May.
7. Laos
Laos has two seasons — hot and wet from May to October and dry and cool from November to April. Choose the latter to make the most of this spectacular country with historic communities, beautiful landscapes, and vibrant nature reserves to explore.
8. Malaysia
If you’re heading for Malaysia’s capital, Kuala Lumpur, visit between June and August to avoid the heaviest rainfall. You can make the most of the city’s attractions, with activities as varied as visiting the Islamic Art Museum to admiring some of its futuristic architecture.
9. Myanmar
Myanmar has a tropical monsoon climate, so you must time your trip carefully to make the most of this beautiful country with plenty of stunning landscapes and incredible cultural sights. Travel in the winter months of October to February to enjoy dry conditions and comfortable temperatures.
10. The Philippines
Head for this exciting destination in the cooler, drier months of December, January and February. Enjoy the beaches, try watersports, and explore natural features, including volcanoes, caves, and rice terraces.
11. Singapore
This city-state is a top tourist destination, famous for its vibrant cityscape, incredible choice of cuisine and lush green spaces nestling amongst the buildings. Avoid visiting during the monsoon period from November to January; you’ll surely have the best time.
12. Thailand
This essential destination for foodies is hot all year round. But if you time your trip between November and March for the capital, Bangkok or Phuket, you can make the most of slightly cooler temperatures. For the popular island destination of Ko Samui, the months of June to September are best.
13. Vietnam
You’ll find many climatic variations in this beautiful country, so your timings will depend on where you’re heading. Try February to June for less rainfall if you want to make the most of the east coast beaches. If you love trekking, head for the highlands between October and March for a memorable experience.
